When faced with the “other” and potential confrontation, we can become tongue-tied, we may freeze like a deer in the headlights, or we may erupt in a Mount Vesuvius of cursing and door slamming. There are books on communicating effectively out there, but for purposes of the 3R’s, we will use the K.I.S.S. factor (“Keep It Simple Stupid”). Using the 3R’s as a baseline, focus on how you are experiencing the situation. Is it lack of reciprocity? Is it lack of reliability? Is it lack of respect? Be clear you know what your concerns are before you try to convey them to the other... |
